FOLAR is the only organization dedicated to the conservation, protection, and enjoyment of the lower Appomattox River, and your gift makes sure that we remain friends of the river and Appomattox River Trail, forever. There are many ways to give. Whether it’s a making a one-time gift, memorializing a space or site, or making FOLAR a beneficiary in your will, trust, retirement, estate, or insurance policy, we can help you craft a custom giving plan that’s right for you.

DIRECT GIVING

Direct gifts of cash or assets can be made to support operations, endowments, and capital projects. Most gifts are unrestricted, but donors have the option to specifically support one or more aspects of FOLAR’s work in a donor-advised fund.

PLANNED GIVING

Planned giving can be a great way to leave your legacy, and involves arranging a charitable donation as part of your financial or estate plan. This may include bequests, trusts, charitable gift annuities, or naming FOLAR as a charity beneficiary on insurance policies or retirement assets.

MEMORIAL BENCH PROGRAM

Sponsoring a bench on the Appomattox River Trail is a great way to memorialize your loved one while supporting FOLAR and the Appomattox River Trail. Benches are six-feet wide and are made with uv-protected, low-maintenance, recycled plastic. Benches have a 50-year guarantee against breakage! A personal message can be engraved directly onto the bench. Bench locations and personalized messages are finalized in consultation with FOLAR staff and local parks and recreation departments.
