CALLING ALL STURGEON LOVERS! We are excited to announce the launch of a new story map celebrating the amazing Atlantic sturgeon as envisioned by three local artists. The story map highlights sturgeon sculptures along the Appomattox River, commissioned by CultureWorks to create public art for the community and raise awareness of FOLAR’s mission to conserve, protect, and promote the Appomattox River for all to enjoy. Check out the story map, check out the sculptures, and check out additional opportunities to celebrate sturgeon like the unveiling of the third sculpture, ZORA, on Wednesday, September 13th at 4:00pm at University Blvd Trailhead, 527 University Blvd, Petersburg, VA 23803!
Many thanks to our local artists, Keith Ramsey (Roslyn Landing Park in Colonial Heights), Nancy Sanderson (University Blvd Trailhead in Petersburg), and Kirk Thore (City Park in Hopewell), as well as to Daniel Jones from CultureWorks for producing the series.
