Hopewell Rec & Parks Guided 10-mile course includes kayak/all equipment rental!

Register now for the best paddling event of the year on the Appomattox River. Includes shuttle, breakfast snacks, picnic lunch, T-Shirt, and racing awards! The entire route is flat water on the tidal section of the river. The outgoing tide is expected for the event. Buoys, mile markers, and monitor boats will be out along the course.

COURSE OPTIONS:

2-Mile Course option –  flat water, easy up-and-back paddle. 9:30AM start at Rotary Park on Pocahontas Island in Old Towne Petersburg, turnaround at Roslyn Landing Park in Colonial Heights and paddle back to Petersburg. Drive yourself to the Hopewell City Marina for lunch and award program.

10-Mile Self-guided Leisure Paddle 9:30AM start at Rotary Park on Pocahontas Island in Petersburg and finish at Hopewell City Marina.

10-Mile Guided Route with Hopewell Rec & Parks includes kayak, paddle & PFD 9:30AM start at Rotary Park on Pocahontas Island in Petersburg and finish at Hopewell City Marina..

10-Mile Race 10:00AM at Rotary Park on Pocahontas Island finish at Hopewell City Marina. Best time to beat is 1 hour, 39 minutes!

FIRST PLACE RACING AWARDS FOR CATEGORIES: UNDER 50 MALE AND FEMALE AND FOR OVER 50 MALE & FEMALE.
TROPHY PRESENTATION AT THE FINISH IS AT NOON.

All participants are required to complete LIABILITY WAIVER. Parent/Guardian signature required for all persons under 18 years of age. Under 17 must be accompanied by an adult. Properly worn PFD’s are required.

Limited number of event day kayak rentals are available for $20 each. Call Richard, 804-490-8143, to reserve.

SHUTTLE / PARKING OPTIONS:

TRANSPORTATION: Shuttle will run to and from the start and finish, 7:45AM – 9:00AM from Petersburg to Hopewell – and 12:15PM – 2:00PM

CLICK HERE TO RESERVE A SEAT ON THE MORNING SHUTTLE. Limited seating available.

Option #1: Drop your boat at Pocahontas Island in Petersburg in the morning. Drive to Hopewell City Marina to park and take shuttle back to Petersburg to start your paddle.

Option #2: Park at the launch/registration site at Pocahontas Island in Petersburg. At the finish in Hopewell, a shuttle will return you and your kayak or canoe to Petersburg.

Option #3: You can also leave a second vehicle at the Hopewell City Marina and proceed to Petersburg for the start with your canoe/kayak/SUP.

Paddle Battle registrants receive a T-shirt, breakfast snacks and picnic lunch.
