Come out and paddle to support preservation of the Appomattox River
Check-in begins at 8AM
2-Mile Short Paddle or 10-Mile Leisure-Race Start – 9AM
Race Start – 10:00AM
Finish Line Celebration! – Lunch and Trophy Activities – 12:00 – 1:30PM
NEW 2-Mile Course option! – flat water, easy out-and-back paddle. 9AM start at Pocahontas Island turnaround at Roslyn Landing Colonial Heights and paddle back to Pocahontas. Drive yourself to Hopewell Marina for Finish Line Celebration lunch and award program.
Or, choose the 10-Mile Course which begins at Pocahontas Island Park in Petersburg (181 Rolfe St., Petersburg 23803) and finishes at Hopewell City Marina near the convergence with the James River. The entire route is flat water in the tidal section of the river. The outgoing tide is expected for the event. Buoys, mile markers, and guide boats will be out along the course. First Place Racing Awards for categories: Under 50 Male and Female and for Over 50 Male & Female. Best time to beat is 1 hour, 39 minutes! Trophy presentation at the finish is at noon.
All participants are required to complete liability waiver. Parental signature required for all persons under 18 years of age. Properly worn PFD’s are required.
Event day kayak rentals are available. Call Richard at 804-490-8143 to reserve.
Shuttles will run kayaks and paddlers back to starting point in the afternoon. See course map.

Battle or Paddle registrants receive a T-shirt, continental breakfast and picnic lunch.
Event proceeds support FOLAR river conservation and stewardship programs along the Appomattox River.
