River Champion Workshops

Become a RIVER CHAMPION!
Sign up for any or all of the three 2022 River Champions educational events for free. Held in the evenings on the last Wednesday of September, October, and November from 6:00-7:30pm
Event Descriptions:
NATIVE & INVASIVE PLANTS September 28th
Learn how to identify the plants on your property and how to control the invasive species so your native plants can thrive. FOLAR staff will have sample plants and demonstrate different control techniques in this hands-on workshop. Come to the park before the program for a walk to the river.

CONSERVATION EASEMENTS October 26th
Join FOLAR and Capital Region Land Conservancy (CRLC) to learn how to protect the land you love in the Tri-Cities. Join us for a discussion on conservation easements and the process to protect your land for future generations.

CHESAPEAKE BAY ACT November 30th
Did you know that most of the Tri-Cities Region is located in the Chesapeake Bay Watershed? That location means the Chesapeake Bay Act and regulations apply to how we manage and develop our land. Join FOLAR and DEQ to learn more about these regulations and how to protect the Appomattox River and the Chesapeake Bay.
