 2010 Fall River Clean Up

On Saturday Oct. 23rd Friends of the Lower Appomattox River (FOLAR) held its annual fall river clean up. This year’s locations were Lake Chesdin, Petersburg and Prince George. About 50 total volunteers showed up for the clean up. The Lake Chesdin site produced about 250 pounds of litter, Petersburg about a thousand and Prince George about 500 pounds. Tires, concrete, bottles, cans, plastic, wood and various small appliances made up the total. This was FOLAR’s 9th year of holding clean ups in the spring and fall. Joining the volunteers were students from Richard Bland College and members of FOLAR.
