10th Annual Paddle-or-Battle on the Appomattox!

Check-in begins at 8AM Leisure Paddle Start – 9AM Race Start – 10:00AM
This is the 10th year that FOLAR has organized this amazing opportunity for a fun paddle or a competitive race in your canoe, kayak, or SUP.
The beautiful 10 mile course begins at Hopewell City Marina near the convergence with the James River with the finish at historic Pocahontas Island in Petersburg. The entire route is flat water in the tidal section of the river. The incoming tide is expected for the event.
First Place Racing Awards for categories: Under 50 Male and Female and for Over 50 Male & Female. Best time to beat is 1 hour, 39 minutes! Trophy presentation at the finish is at noon.
All participants are required to complete liability waiver. Parental signature required for all persons under 18 years of age. Properly worn PFD’s are required.
Shuttles will run kayaks and paddlers back to starting point in the afternoon. See course map.

Day of Event Registration: $30.00 per adult; $20.00 under 18 and Active Duty Military
Battle or Paddle registrants receive a T-shirt, continental breakfast and picnic lunch.
Event proceeds support FOLAR river conservation and stewardship programs along the Appomattox River.
